detroit young gun rawaat finally steps up with his debut vinyl release for lobster theremin. having carefully honed an inimitable sound that caresses the left-facing corners of house, techno, ambient and beats, this marks the start of what promises to be a very special year for the mid west talent. rawaats own diy tape imprint, crisis urbana, simultaneously provided the breeding ground and outlet for ideas and a collective mentallity that is beginning to define a new wave of detroit producers, and listening to their discography it is immediately clear where those tape-saturated, cut-and-paste jams found their roots.

*somebody* is the first single from the new aurra album *body rock* due out later this year on family groove records. once again the world gets to experience a lost disco-funk masterpiece providing another glimpse into the genius mind of slave founding-member steve washington & brides of funkenstein / p-funk singer sheila horne. body rock will be the second and final unearthing of the lost but found master tapes originally recorded for quincy jones qwest imprint in 1984. slap bass, heavy synths, linn drum, sultry vocals... this is modern funk at its finest!
the 24-track master tapes were transferred digitally and then mixed on an ssl board by kamal humphrey at his all-analog flying carpet studios in los angeles. the result is a full sound enhanced by the natural analog process using todays digital technology only when needed to clean up the files.
da-m-funk adds a bit of dirt and grime by putting his signature re-freak on the track. a confirmation from los angeles ambassador of boogie funk that this is in fact the the un-cut funk and nothing but the funk.

berlin based cohorts ekkohaus and rufus (also part of tru west and nightdrivers) consummate their friendship with this four-track mission statement that deals in gutsy house music with a range of moods to suit every corner of the night. studer is a cheeky cut with jazzy key flurries and a fulsome bassline squelch, while pagan takes a tougher route into heavy delay feedback and pure rhythmic intensity. the end of an ear is a playful beast that takes off-key melodies and oddball noises and works them into a moody, heavy grooving context, while peace & reflection pushes the swing past the brink for a leftfield house jam that sounds liable to fall apart at any minute, in a good way of course.

nobody can deny the fact that vilnius in lithuania is currently a very creative and agile place. first and foremost mario basanov of course, whose ten walls moniker swept the board last year and whose hype seems to have only just started. his popularity was heightened by the start of his own label boso. it took off with the highly praised -walking with elephants-, which was already one of the biggest tunes of this summer, before it even came out. the second release is by few nolder, another highly talented native from vilnius, who showed frst signs of life on connaisseur with his lovely tune -space espace- on our last edition of livingroom techno as well as with his remix for -canto d amore- by marco effe & francesco carone. -clouds- is the name of his boso release, and it looks to be the next big thing for this young label. for his frst own release on connaisseur he delivered -if-.the fact that it is different from his other output is why we have decided to present this tune in two versions as a 10- vinyl-only single. the original is a summerish and catchy house cut with a bouncy bassline and a slightly uk-approach.this tune makes you move without there being much you can do about it. the alt version goes deeper, building up with a question/answer theme until a strong, driving piano element joins to complete the track. lovers of older pokerflat releases will truly enjoy this version.

the new tugboat edits is a chicago/nyc split 12 inch featuring tim zawada and chrissy (chris e. pants/chrissy murderbot). starts with a summer vibes cut where tz flexes his disco music followed by two alternative disco cuts from chrissy and ends with another new wave edit from tim. hand stamped and numbered white label 12 singles. limited to 400 numbered copies.

it s been a long, long time since coyu produced an ep full of original tracks for his beloved kitty label. september of 2013 was the last party groovers from him. through all these months our mastercat has released several eps on cocoon recordings, snatch! records, noir music, bedrock records and some edits and original tracks with ramiro lopez and edu imbernon that have been released on suara. finally, we have our mastercat alone with two oustanding cuts. in my mind is a dark techno track with a break that it will literally blow your head up... balls , however, is a very housey and summery cut that will definetely break your hips because of the instantly recognisable vocals and the killer darbuka rhythm. enjoy this is 100% coyu!
